What do R13 and V10 mean for an outdoor mat?
R13 is the highest slip resistance rating under ASR A1.5 (German Technical Rule for Workplaces on floors). V10 describes a large displacement volume that provides space for water or dirt below the walking surface. Both apply to the tested version.
Does the outdoor mat need to be fixed in place?
On smooth surfaces or small areas, fixing is advisable, for example with special double-sided adhesive tape. This stops the mat from shifting and creating a trip edge.
Does the mat also help in ice and snow?
The open structure lets water drain away, reducing slipperiness. The mat should not be laid on existing black ice. Winter clearing and gritting are still required.
Are there matching stair tread mats for outdoor stairs?
Yes, stair tread and angled tread mats are available in the same material. This gives stairs and landings a uniform surface.
