Slip-Resistant Grating

Discover the benefits of slip-resistant gratings made of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) or alternatively steel, developed for maximum workplace safety in any environment.

Gratings are indispensable in numerous applications where safe walking and stability are concerned. Especially in environments where conventional steel gratings reach their limits due to rust and corrosion, our slip-resistant gratings made of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) offer an alternative.

Made-to-measure anti-slip steel grating – safety, quality and durability combined

Raise your safety standards and rely on the highest quality with our innovative anti-slip steel gratings. Manufactured in accordance with DIN 24537 using state-of-the-art production methods, our made-to-measure steel gratings offer the perfect combination of robust steel, an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and easy installation. Thanks to non-slip serrated surfaces, our gratings ensure optimum grip even in ice, snow, moisture or lubricants (slip resistance rating R12) – ideal for traffic routes, platforms, walkways, shafts and channel entries.

Why slip-resistant GRP gratings?

  1. Certified quality: Our slip-resistant gratings made of glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) are produced in the EU. Test certificates for each version are available on request. This certification makes them the preferred choice for offshore units and steel ships, where strict fire protection criteria apply.
  2. Improved safety: The surface of our gratings is designed to provide a high coefficient of friction that significantly reduces the risk of falls and accidents.
  3. Durability: Thanks to their construction, our gratings are particularly robust and resistant to extreme conditions and heavy use. They withstand the elements and are a long-term solution for your requirements.
  4. Low maintenance: Unlike conventional steel gratings, our GRP gratings do not require complex maintenance. They are easy to clean and do not need to be painted, blasted or replaced.
  5. Non-conductive: In environments where electrical conductivity matters, our gratings offer a safe alternative to steel because they are non-conductive.
  6. Dissipative for ATEX areas: Dissipative versions are available for potentially explosive atmospheres. We clarify suitability for your hazardous area (Ex zone) on a product-specific basis using the test certificate and your explosion protection concept, including with regard to TRGS 727 (German Technical Rule for Hazardous Substances on electrostatic charges).
  7. Cost efficiency: Thanks to their low weight and easy handling, you save time and money on transport and installation.

Applications for our slip-resistant gratings

Our GRP gratings are used in a wide variety of applications, including:

Slip-resistant gratings in R11, R12 and R13
Slip-resistant gratings in R11, R12 and R13

Slip-resistant gratings rated R11 to R13 are suitable for a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  1. Chemical industry: In production plants, storage areas and chemical laboratories, slip-resistant gratings provide safety when handling chemical substances and increase traction in wet or oily environments.
  2. Oil and gas industry: On offshore platforms, in refineries and in storage areas, gratings are used to provide safe walkways, stairs and work areas, even in adverse conditions such as high temperatures and slippery surfaces.
  3. Food industry: In production facilities, cold rooms, wineries/wine cellars, fruit and juice processing and storage areas, where hygiene and safety are of the utmost importance, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe walking surface and prevent potential trips or slips.
  4. Transport and logistics: In warehouses, loading areas and logistics centres, slip-resistant gratings ensure safe walkways and work areas, even in areas with heavy pedestrian and vehicle activity.
  5. Shipbuilding and maritime industry: On ship decks, in port facilities and maritime working environments, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe working platform, even in difficult weather conditions and on slippery surfaces.
  6. Power generation: In power stations, substations, wind turbines and other power generation facilities, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe walking surface for employees working near machinery and equipment, as well as in environments with oily or wet floors.
  7. Automotive industry: In factories, assembly lines and workshops, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe walking surface for employees working near machinery and vehicles, as well as in areas that may be oily or wet.
  8. Mining industry: In mines, extraction areas and processing plants, slip-resistant gratings ensure safe walkways and work areas, even in environments with dust, moisture and difficult terrain.
  9. Rail and tram operations: At railway stations, on platforms and at tram stops, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe walking surface for passengers, especially in poor weather conditions such as rain, snow or ice. They allow passengers to board and alight from trains and trams safely and minimise the risk of falls or accidents.
  10. Aerospace industry: In aircraft maintenance hangars, airport terminals and space centres, slip-resistant gratings provide a safe walking surface for employees working near aircraft, spacecraft and other aviation equipment. These gratings offer high traction, even in adverse conditions such as rain or snow, and minimise the risk of falls or accidents in these demanding working environments.

Our slip-resistant ATEX gratings are ideal for a wide range of applications in ATEX areas, including:

  • Chemical plants
  • Oil and gas industry:
  • Refineries
  • Warehouses for flammable substances
  • Production plants with explosion hazards
  • Flour processing

Frequently asked questions about slip-resistant gratings

When is a GRP grating better than steel?

GRP is lightweight, does not corrode and does not conduct electricity. This is an advantage in wet, chemical and offshore areas. Steel is often the first choice for very high point loads.

What slip resistance do slip-resistant gratings have?

Depending on the version, ratings up to R13 are possible. The decisive factor is the test certificate for the respective grating, which is available on request.

Can existing gratings be made non-slip retrospectively?

Yes. Screw-on GRP sheets, stair nosings and special clips are available for this. A complete replacement is then often unnecessary.
