Slip Protection for Warehouses and Logistics

Slip protection in the warehouse is about more than tidiness. In warehousing and logistics, pedestrians, industrial trucks and load carriers come together in a confined space. Moisture from roller doors, oil from vehicles, film residues and dust make the floor slippery. A fall here can quickly have serious consequences.

We help you to secure walkways, ramps, stairs and workstations in the warehouse in a targeted way. Depending on the area, coatings, mats, markings or sheets are suitable. The right solution depends on the load, the substrate and the cleaning regime. On this page you will find an overview of typical hazard areas and possible measures.

Warehouse with racking and walkways – slip protection in warehousing and logistics

Typical hazard areas in warehousing and logistics

  • Areas at roller doors and high-speed doors where rain and snow are carried in
  • Traffic routes and walkways with oil or hydraulic fluid from industrial trucks
  • Picking stations with film, paper and cardboard residues
  • Stairs to platforms, offices and racking systems
  • Loose cables at charging stations and mobile workstations
  • Freezer and cold storage areas with frost and condensation
  • Loading docks and transitions to dock levellers

Many of these spots only become noticeable once something has already happened. A walk-round focusing on moisture, contamination and walking routes helps to identify priorities. Involve your employees as well – they usually know exactly where it regularly gets slippery.

Slip protection in the warehouse: suitable solutions

The following solutions can be used individually or in combination. Which measure makes sense depends on the area in question.

Making warehouse floors non-slip

Large hall areas can be fitted with slip-resistant floor coatings . Aggregates such as quartz granules provide a grippy surface. For areas with forklift traffic, forklift-suitable versions are available. For floors that are already coated, we recommend a compatibility test.

Slip-resistant walkways in the warehouse

Clearly marked walkways separate pedestrians from vehicle traffic. Slip-resistant floor marking combines both: it makes the route visible and provides better grip at the same time. For emergency exits, photoluminescent escape route marking is also an option.

Anti-slip flooring for logistics centres

For workstations, packing tables and transitions, the right choice is anti-slip mats. For heavy loads, for example when setting down pallets or load carriers, there is a heavy-duty anti-slip mat. It also helps to reduce load shifting.

Securing stairs and platforms

Stairs to storage platforms and offices are a frequent accident location. Stair nosings secure the step edge and make it stand out visually. On steel platforms with chequer plate, an anti-slip coating for chequer plate helps.

Safely bridging cables

Cables often lie on the floor at charging stations and mobile workstations. A non-slip cable cover mat covers them and reduces the risk of tripping.

Anti-slip strips for ramps and transitions

For smaller areas, ramps and thresholds, anti-slip strips are ideal. They can be applied precisely where it often gets slippery.

Selection: what matters

Slip resistance: ASR A1.5 (German Technical Rule for Workplaces on floors) requires floors in workplaces that can be walked on safely. Annex 2 of ASR A1.5 specifies slip resistance ratings from R9 to R13 for many work areas. Testing is carried out according to DIN EN 16165:2023 (German edition of European standard EN 16165); older data often refer to German standard DIN 51130. Use these values as a guide and compare them with your risk assessment.

Substrate: Concrete, epoxy, asphalt, sheet steel or grating require different products. Tell us the substrate and its condition so that we can suggest suitable solutions.

Cleaning: Warehouses are often cleaned by machine. The surface should be grippy but remain suitable for your cleaning machines.

Fixing: Self-adhesive strips are suitable for quick retrofitting. Coatings make sense for large areas. Sheets are screwed or bonded; mats can be loose-laid or fixed.

How your enquiry works

  1. You tell us about the affected areas, the substrate and the type of load, ideally with photos and dimensions.
  2. We suggest suitable products and clarify questions on slip resistance, trafficability and fixing.
  3. You receive an individual quotation, including for custom-made products and cut-to-size pieces.

Frequently asked questions about slip protection in the warehouse

How can I make my warehouse floor non-slip?

Slip-resistant coatings are suitable for large areas. For individual spots, anti-slip strips, mats or sheets are an option. The decisive factors are the substrate, vehicle traffic loads and the cleaning method.

Which anti-slip flooring is suitable for a logistics centre?

That depends on the area. Trafficable coatings are common on traffic routes. Mats help at packing stations, nosings on stairs. A combination often makes sense.

How can slip-resistant walkways in the warehouse be marked?

Slip-resistant floor markings make walkways visible and improve grip. This clearly separates pedestrians from forklift traffic.

What needs to be considered for slip protection in freezer stores?

In freezer stores, frost and condensation can make the floor slippery. Not every material and adhesive is suitable for low temperatures. Tell us the temperature ranges so that we can check suitable versions with corresponding test certificates on request.
