In Germany, our R13 safety mats are an effective alternative wherever grit salt is banned. While local by-laws prohibit chemical de-icers, the mats provide maximum grip underfoot through mechanical slip resistance to DIN 51130 (R13). Can the anti-slip matting stay outside in the snow?

Yes, the anti-slip matting can stay outside all winter. Our mats are weatherproof, rot-proof and UV-stable and are designed to stay outdoors permanently (all-year use).

Does the mat help against black ice?

Partly. Because water drains away through the open structure, black ice forms on the surface far less often. Hoar frost or thin ice usually breaks up when walked on, and the granulate provides grip. In freezing rain or under a continuous sheet of ice, however, the mat is no substitute for clearing and gritting.
