The truck ice and snow clearance gantry is the professional solution for the safe and efficient removal of ice and snow from vehicle roofs. Specially developed for hauliers, logistics centres, bus operators and industrial depots, the system enables legally compliant roof clearance in accordance with the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) and occupational safety regulations.

Thanks to the modular design of the truck roof de-icing system , the de-icing system can be flexibly adapted to different vehicle types such as trucks, articulated lorries or buses. The sturdy construction made of high-quality aluminium ensures high corrosion resistance, durability and minimal maintenance costs – ideal for permanent outdoor use.

The generous working platform with slip-resistant grating (e.g. R12) and surrounding safety railings offers maximum safety for operating personnel. This considerably reduces the risk of workplace accidents while increasing efficiency during winter operations.

⚙️ Advantages & benefits of the ice and snow clearance gantry

  • Maximum workplace safety during ice and snow clearance
  • Legally compliant solution to avoid liability risks (StVO, DGUV)
  • Modular system – individually adaptable to site and vehicle types
  • Non-slip platforms for a secure footing in all weather conditions
  • Weather-resistant & low-maintenance thanks to aluminium construction
  • Efficient winter operations – fast de-icing without interrupting operations

“Removing snow and ice

Several hundred litres of water can collect, above all on the tarpaulin roof of a truck or trailer. On cold winter nights, this water can freeze. If the driver does nothing, vehicles behind can be hit by heavy chunks of ice once the journey continues. The rule is therefore: whoever drives must check their vehicle before setting off and clear the body and roof of snow and ice!

Responsibility of drivers and vehicle keepers

Drivers are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy (Section 23 StVO).
Vehicle keepers can also be held responsible – e.g. when vehicles leave the depot (Sections 31 and 69a StVZO, German Road Vehicles Registration and Licensing Regulations).

Three versions of the truck roof de-icing system for different requirements

Depending on fleet size, space available and frequency of use, three different solutions are available:

Stationary modular de-icing system

The permanently fixed modular system is designed for larger fleets and regular vehicle throughput. It can be individually assembled from different platform modules and extended later.

Stationary de-icing gantry

The stationary de-icing gantry is an economical alternative for medium-sized fleets to the permanently installed modular system. The aluminium gantry system is stabilised by outriggers and is suitable both for de-icing and for inspection and repair work on tarpaulins and vehicle bodies.

Mobile de-icing gantry

The mobile de-icing gantry is suitable for smaller fleets, changing locations and limited space . It can be moved around the site on four swivel castors and stored in a space-saving manner after use.

⚠️ Why a de-icing system is indispensable

Sheets of ice not removed from truck roofs pose a considerable safety risk and can lead to serious accidents. Companies are liable in the event of damage. With the roof de-icing system “Eisfrei” you not only comply with legal requirements but also actively protect people, vehicles and your company’s reputation.

Request a quote for a truck roof de-icing system

Send us the dimensions of your vehicles, the desired version and a few photos of the intended installation site. We will check the requirements and prepare an individual quote for you, including delivery time and optional installation.

For the design, we need the following information:

  1. Desired version: stationary or mobile
  2. Number and type of vehicles
  3. Vehicle heights and lengths
  4. Desired length of the working platform
  5. Number of de-icing operations per day
  6. Installation site and postcode
  7. Condition, load-bearing capacity and gradient of the ground, e.g. concrete, asphalt, paving or other surface
  8. Desired delivery date
  9. Need for installation or foundation planning
  10. Photos or plans of the intended location

Frequently asked questions about truck de-icing platforms

Can the system also be used for buses?

Yes. With a suitable platform height and length, de-icing systems can also be used for service buses, coaches and other tall commercial vehicles.

Is a stationary or a mobile system better?

A stationary system is particularly suitable for regular vehicle traffic and a fixed de-icing location. A mobile system offers more flexibility but requires suitable level ground and must be positioned securely before each use.

May the driver walk on the truck roof?

The roof or tarpaulin should not be walked on for snow clearance. The work is carried out from the protected platform using a suitable snow pusher or broom.

Can the platform be extended individually?

Stationary systems are available in modular form and, depending on the system, can be designed for the desired overall length.

Can the customer install it?

Many systems are supplied in pre-assembled modules with assembly instructions. Whether self-installation makes sense depends on the size of the system, the fixing method and local conditions.

What information is needed for a quote?

In particular, we need vehicle dimensions, installation site, desired platform length, stationary or mobile version, and information about the ground and the desired delivery date.
