Selection: what matters
Slip resistance: Annex 2 of the German workplace regulation ASR A1.5 ‘Floors’ gives guidance on the ratings R9 to R13 and on displacement space. The specific requirement follows from your risk assessment. Logistics and production areas often need higher ratings than offices and circulation areas.
Substrate: concrete, tiles, steel, timber and asphalt each need different products. Check condition, contamination and any existing coatings. With old coatings, a trial area is advisable before treating larger surfaces.
Cleaning: the surface must suit your cleaning method. Very rough surfaces offer plenty of grip but also trap more dirt. Weigh up grip and cleaning effort together with your cleaning contractor.
Fixing: bonded, screw-fixed or loose-laid – the choice depends on loads, service life and possible alterations. Leased premises often call for removable solutions.
